Donald Trump has not become our president yet, and people are trying to tear him down. I will admit that when Mr. Trump first started running for president, I supported him all the way. But after a while, I began to worry considering some of the things he said and did. But since Mr. Trump has been elected our president his tone has changed and his views on people seem to have changed as well. Consider all the things that Romney said about Trump as well as Paul Ryan and how they seem to be getting along better now is a prime example.
Everything Mr. Trump is doing now appears to be all the right thing. His recent meeting with all the tech giants of this country I see as nothing but beneficial. He is meeting with all the players giving them some foresight of what his presidency will be. I don’t see how anyone can complain about that.
I will admit, that it is a little concerning the fact that Donald Trump’s children seem to have a significant position in his presidency, but he has always indicated that they are some of his most trusted advisors. If they can help mold Mr. Trump into the kind of president we want them, I’m all for it. But I’m not sure how some of these children can run his company and be involved in the presidency at the same time. But I feel like we need to give Mr. Trump a chance to prove what he has said is going to happen.
As far as the Russians are concerned, I think it’s a wait and see how Mr. Trump handles Mr. Putin. He is the first president we have ever had that is more in tune with the economy than playing politics. Trump has indicated that Trump is going to do a lot to rebuild the economic engine of this country. I think we should give him a chance to prove that he can do that before we try to destroy him as a person and the president.
If in his first year he shows that he is totally opposite to what he keeps telling us then, by all means, let the chips fall where they may. But until then, people need to give him a break.

Comments Off on ROE V WADE

A subject that raises the anger of many people, both men and women. But I have long asked myself why?

After 9/11, the Federal Government passed numerous laws that they said were created to protect us from terrorists. The American public was up in arms, declaring that this was a violation of our privacy and our civil rights. Then there was the issue with the NSA, Snowden aerie, when we discovered that the federal government was listening to our phone calls, reading our emails, as well as storing them on servers.

I have asked myself the question, what is the difference between our objections to the Federal Government invading our privacy, and the many people who say they have a right to tell a woman what she will do with her body. During the years since Roe V Wade was passed, there have been many people who have died, because people thought they were on the wrong side of the law. Isn’t this a form of terrorist activity. And some of those people died in the name of religion. Can you say Islamic terrorist?

The other thing I question, is how a man can deal with this subject when he is the main reason for the problem. I don’t understand how men can interject themselves into this argument. Men can conceive children well into their eighties. If men weren’t so eager to submit to the sexual urges, maybe we wouldn’t have so many women left with what they feel is their only option. What if women were to decide that most men should be castrated at birth, so that the issue of abortion went away.

Almost of the states have passed laws trying to restrict the rights of women to do with their bodies as they wish. All in the name of religion. Oh, I know that religion may not be named directly in the law, but make no mistake about it, it’s all about religion and how one group wants to force their version of religion on another group. Can you say Islamic terrorist.

An another thing. I am willing to bet, that less than 2% of all the anti abortion people ever adopt a child from the many addition agencies in the US. Have you taken notice of the actors who adopt children, they adopt outside the US. Personally, I think everyone American who is on the side of anti abortion, or right to life, should be required to adopt at least one US child.

I know heir are “Many” people out there who will disagree with me on this subject. But I ask you, how many anti abortion people have died over the years in the religious war, verse the number of doctors or pro abortion people who have died. It seems to me that there is a large group of people out there who fight their religious war, never stopping to consider the fact that they are doing the same thing as ISIS. Can you say Islamic fundamentalist.

Just some thoughts on the subject.

A Losing Battle

Comments Off on A Losing Battle

I get up and go to the gym 6 to 7 days a week. I make a point of going between 5:30 am and 6 am, so this time of the days does not interfere with any other part of my day. I have no excuse for not going. I am up by 5 am every morning anyway. What else would I do, sleep … ha ha.

I have been doing this ritual now for 6 months. I consume less than 1800 calories a day. I track the food I consume on a daily basis, with the App named Lose It. I’ve gained weight! 15 pounds. I lost 100 lbs when I stopped all sugar and starches in my diet, but then the weight lose came to a stop.

My doctor says I must have the lowest metabolism he has ever seen. Now he wants me to do 15 minutes of walking everyday at noon and 6 pm. He says I need this to keep my metabolism up.

People wonder why over weight people give up. I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers, older and younger than me. Three of them still weight what they did when they graduated from high school. That’s 30 plus years ago. They suck! The rest are slim and trim.

I have a condition called tremors. I shake really bad. One day while eating, I stabbed myself in the gums of my mouth. Now I am going to have brain surgery to stop the tremor.   3 weeks ago, doctors found a growth on my thyroid. The growth is larger than my thyroid. Now the doctor is going to operate. With my thyroid gone, I could gain a lot of weight.

But, I will never, give up the fight.

Who Was My Hero

Comments Off on Who Was My Hero

I read a blog today that made me start thinking about the question I was asked half a lifetime ago. The blog was posted by, “Daily Write” and entitled “Who do you #Follow? Who follows You?”. The blog made me start thinking about the question I was asked by my therapist.

I won’t bore you with the reason why I was going to see a therapist, we all have our reasons for needing someone to help us through difficult times. If you don’t think you need someone, then you’re out of touch with life.

The question I was asked, “Who was your hero when you were young?” My therapist asked me to answer that question when I returned for our next session. I considered the question for several weeks prior to our next session and arrived at a conclusion that even surprised me.

I had a brother who was four years older than myself. The first ten years or so of our lives we were like typical brothers, fighting all the time. After that, my brother was branching off into other areas that were interesting to me. He was the person that I wanted so much to hang out with, to be involved with the things that he was doing. But as older brothers go he had no interest in hanging out with his younger brothers or sisters. From about the age of ten he began to drift away and enjoy his time with his friends, and he made every effort to make it clear to myself and our younger brother that we were not welcome in his life.

He was the hero that I missed in my life, and nothing has changed. Except now we are older and we don’t look for heroes anymore.

The Scents of Summer

Seasonal Scents

The scent of summer. So many different scents arouse me during the months of summer that it could be difficult to come up with one smell that reminds you of summer.

Golden Paradise

I live in a community of condominiums. Taking a leisurely walk through the condominiums each day you can come across so many different smells. The smell of chlorine in the pool. The smell of so many different foods as the different families who create our community cook them. The smell of pine trees or the smell of grass from landscapers … each week.

We have one woman who likes to sit outside and smoke her cigars during the summer months. Smoking is an annoying habit, especially, if your condominium happens to be near hers. Every year when summer rolls around I know she’s going to be outside smoking those cigars.

Then we have the barbecue people. I fall into that category. Almost every day during the warm months, I cook outside. I love the smell of fresh vegetables cooking on the grill. I cannot get enough of them. Squash, mushrooms, tomatoes, asparagus, green peppers, onions, and more. Yes, I cooked some meat; chicken, fish; especial salmon but the main thing is fresh vegetables.

I can’t wait for my figs to ripen and smell the sweet, pungent smell of my figs.

Abundance of figs this year.

Therefore, for me, the smells of summer are vast. If I had to narrow it down to one specific smell, I think it would be the grass when it is cut. It has such a sweet aroma to it. It happens the same day of every week. I open the window to my office during the time the landscapers are cutting the grass just so I can smell the sweet aroma. Sometimes I go out, pick some up, put it in a bowl, and place it on my desk, just so I can smell the cut grass.

I asked a friend of mine what smells reminds him of summer. He told me his wife. She smells different during the summer. She takes more baths, and her smell is like the sweet smell of honey, mixed with all the other shampoos and creams that she uses on her body. He told me he loved it when she ran around the house in the nude after taking a shower. The man is strange.

What yours?

The Heart is Where The Family Is

An Ounce of Home

You’re embarking on a yearlong round-the-world adventure, and can take only one small object with you to remind you of home. What do you bring along for the trip?

I know that no one has the perfect family.  Show me someone who claims to have the perfect family, and I will show you someone who lives in a dream world.

Family is everything.  As Charles Kuralt once said, “The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege.”

Many people never learn this until it’s too late.  They discover they are standing on the outside of what would be a beautiful inside.

If I was going on a year-long trip, the one thing I would take with me is a picture of my family.  I want to wake-up every day and remember the love that I am missing.

Nothing will ever replace the love of the family, no matter how hard you try.  You can be the greatest celebrity in the world, the richest person in the world and still be poorer than the poorest person living on the street is.

Finding The Other Side of Me

Writing 101, Day Thirteen: Serial Killer II

Earlier in the course, you wrote about losing something. Today, write about finding something. For your twist, view day four’s post and today’s post as installments in a series.

Instant Celebrity

If you could be a famous person for a day, who would you be? Why?

Before I begin today’s post, I must tell you that I have always been a believer of the fact that things just happen.  I don’t hold to the position that God makes everything happen to us for a reason.

For years, I have fought my weight.  I gained weight, lost weight, gain the weight back and tried everything I could keep the weight off.  I had trainers, dietitians; talk to doctors and nothing ever seemed to work.  At one point, I considered surgery.  However, after considering all the options and talking to people who had the surgery, and watching what happened to them as well as, so-called, celebrities on television.  I decided not to do the surgery but to lose my weight in a more natural way.  However, nothing worked.

I had reached a weight of 365 pounds.  My left shoulder needed surgery and both of my knees. Then the bad news hit me when my doctor diagnosed me with diabetes.

The first thing that I did was go home and removes everything from my home that I could not eat as a diabetic.  When my wife and I finished, the cupboard and the refrigerator where bear.  We started a different diet plan that met all the requirements of a diabetic, but I went even further.  I said if I’m going to do this then I am going to learn to live my one life without sugar.

One year later, I had lost 100 pounds.  I went to see a doctor about having surgery on my shoulder. Ninety days later, I had use of my left shoulder.  Hundred and twenty days later, both of my knees had been replaced.  Less than two months after having knee surgery, I was up walking more than a mile a day.

Two years after the surgery, my doctor informed me that I was no longer diabetic. I had cured myself by working hard to lose weight and control by diet.

There are those that would say that God realized it was an impossible task for me to lose weight without some assistance.  Therefore diabetes, which forced me to change my diet and lose weight.

I, you are the celebrities of this world.  I cannot think of a single celebrity that I would like to be, even for a day.  I want to be me.  I want to be what the good Lord put on this earth.  We are the celebrities. Do not chase after a dream that will never happen. Chase after your dream and make it happen.
